Journey was a six-year-old dog who had been kept in a cage. Her life started to change when she was sent to an overcrowded shelter after the death of her owner. Unfortunately, she was scheduled to be euthanized when Amy Creel with Knine Rescue found her in the shelter. Amy immediately brought her to an adoption event at Sunrise Senior Living to get her adopted.

Journey was indeed a fun-loving dog; in fact, she enjoyed her day at the adoption event. She walked around and greeted some residents with a big smile and a wagging tail. When the adoption event was finished, one of the staff members of Sunrise Senior Living became very attracted to her.

Mauser decided to adopt Journey after she saw it at Sunrise Senior Living. The dog’s pleasant personality inspired her, so she encouraged other residents to adopt dogs too. Although Journey was kept in the cage for several years, it managed to change its life positively.

Journey got the residents’ attention in a senior living facility; therefore, she received lots of hugs and kisses when she wandered around some halls. Amy was motivated to bring more dogs in other senior living facilities; they brought joy to all seniors. She also intended to help homeless dogs to find stable homes in other senior living facilities.

Dogs were able to give emotional and physical benefits to seniors; in fact, they helped them to reduce stresses and anxieties. They helped seniors to lower their blood pressures, and they also influenced them to become more active. Since dogs are good companions, they can give joy and security to seniors in senior living facilities. Now, Journey lives a life that is hugely different from his miserable life in the cage, so she is very grateful to her family at Sunrise Senior Living who truly loves her.
