Having K-9 units at the police officer’s side is one of the things that makes a successful team of a great-at-catching-bad-guys duo. Dogs are not only quick at chasing bad people on side streets, but they also have a better sense of smell than humans.
From drugs and explosive searches, locating missing people, finding evidence from a crime scene to attacking people commanded by their police partners, police dogs, otherwise known as police K-9, assists law enforcement personnel in making the streets safer for everyone. Most common K-9 partners used are German Shepherd, Belgian Malinois, and Retriever breeds.
A drug-sniffing pup undergoes a series of extensive programs to be able to qualify as one. Although the dogs do not necessarily need to get in direct contact with these drugs, the tests that they go through thoroughly teaches them how to detect the smell of contraband.
This one adorable Retriever from the Arizona Prescott Police Department definitely lived up to what his breed is known for — retrieving contraband for a successful sting. Blue, an Arizona Prescott Police Department K-9 unit, had recently made a large marijuana bust.
The police department happily shared on their Twitter account that one of their canines had a momentous day at work. While not all dogs pass drug-sniffing tests, Blue’s exceptional talent made him famous not only in the precinct but over the internet.
Blue busted several sacks filled with contraband and just by looking at the photo, Blue looked so proud of himself because he was able to save the city from big bad guys and making a huge bust. Now that is a face of a dog who will get loads of treats from his handler later after his shift.
