Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy is probably one of the most debilitating conditions that is known to man. It restricts the transport of oxygen to the brain, which in turn may cause brain damage or abnormal brain development. Since the said condition significantly affects the brain, the affected patient usually suffers from motor disabilities, even inefficient respiratory functions.
Simple tasks, such as sitting up straight for a period of time may not be so easy for a Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy patient like Johnny. Aside from the significantly reduced mobility, Johnny also has to endure painful muscle spasms every day. Due to the pains, coupled with motor disability, he spends most his time lying in bed. It is a saddening condition, but despite all these, Johnny remains strong and hopeful.
Thankfully, there are parts of Johnny’s brain that are still intact. Despite his condition, the nine-year-old can still sense his surroundings. However, still, his condition prevents him from living a normal life. He missed out on opportunities to make friends, have fun, or even go to school, but his parents were determined to do something special for him.
One day, Johnny’s parents brought him a present – a five-month-old Golden Retriever named Lexi. As soon as Johnny saw the dog, his face immediately lit up, which the parents perceived as a sign of genuine happiness. And Lexi almost immediately connected with Johnny, and since then they never left each other’s side.
Lexi also had a hard life. She was once a stray and was found by rescuers starving. She was brought to the Golden Beginnings Golden Retriever Rescue for proper care. As soon as Johnny’s parents saw Lexi, they immediately saw the pup’s demeanor. She’s kind, and at the same time, compassionate – the perfect friend for their dear Johnny.
